Understanding Tax Credits for Your New Windows

1 min read

One of the simplest and cost-effective methods to make your home more energy-efficient is by simply replacing your old vinyl windows. Additionally, available federal tax credits can help you offset the costs of window replacements and enjoy great savings one your energy bill.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2010 has been retroactively extended through 2013, which means that if you purchased eligible replacement doors or windows in 2012, or you plan to purchase them before December 31st, 2013, you may be qualified to receive a tax credit of up to $500.

The Energy-Efficiency Tax Credit can be used to cover 10% of the cost of qualifying windows up to $200, and 10% of the cost of doors up to $300.
